- Students could download a play and take parts to enact the story
Smartboard
- Guided Reading: Big Book scenario
- Reading Circle: Teacher reads to students
- Grammar: Highlight words e.g. Verbs, Adverbs, Adjectives etc (use different colours for each)
- Punctuation: Use visual examples in actual texts of the use of colons, exclamation marks, speech marks etc
- Information Texts: Highlight aspects of Non Fiction texts
- Research Skills: Use Non Fiction texts to teach research and note taking skills
Foreign Languages
- There are eBooks and Audio Books available in other languages by request. Send me an email
Library Space
- QR Codes: Collect cover images of Collection, print as QR codes directing students to the link to download the title. They can either be put in a folder altogether or laminated and placed around the room
- Primary Libraries: Create 'Overdrive Licence' cards where students have to demonstrate particular Overdrive skills prior to gaining their licence
Students as Purchasers
Encourage students to participate in purchasing titles.
- Students log into Overdrive
- Search for their title, if it is not in Diocese of Wollongong Collection...
- Tap 'Add Titles to recommend to your search results'
- If the title is available from Overdrive then the cover image now appears, student taps the cover image, then taps Recommend
- Note: If students do this exercise, an automatic cart is created, I won't know unless I check so just email me and I'll make the purchase. The titles will be available the following day!!
Home Readers
- Ensure parents are aware of Overdrive (perhaps not all parents have access to 'bedtime reading' materials. Overdrive provides free books for parents to read to their children (or simply read every book at home several times and would appreciate quick and easy access to fresh material)
